After a couple of weeks off Abbey Rangers U16 Colts hosted Reigate Priory at the Moor.

Reigate are a team we have never managed to beat and every past game has been a tight affair. Today there was no differnce.

Throughout the match both sides cancelled each other out. Abbey did have the lion's share of the possession and showed a bit more quality but were unable to break Reigate down and could have taken the lead in the first half when Carson Curtis smashed over the bar the only chance of the half.

The second half was much of the same, Abbey were slightly on top but failed to really cause any damage to the Reigate defence. It wasn't until the 72nd minute when Charlie Izzard won the ball in a tough challenge in the opposition's penalty box. This found Zachary Love who turned the defender inside out and then slotted it calmly into the bottom of the net for his first goal for the club after making his move from Merstham in the summer, 1-0 Abbey, and Charlie came off with a gash to his head for his efforts.

Reigate did pick up and dominate after this but it was little too late and the game ended 1-0. A fair result and another tight match.

MOM- Jack Lynch, was absolutely immense today, dominated the back line and soaked up every opportunity Reigate had on goal. Took over the captaincy when George came off injured and lead by example, well done.
