Abbey Rangers U16 Colts hosted the return fixture against Ascot United today just weeks after drawing 2-2 at theirs.

Today there was no difference in the scoreline as yet again the two sides could not be split, despite there being great chances both ends.

Captain George Masters was back for this game and we also saw the return of Antwone Brown to Abbey, who made a transfer from Isleworthians for an undisclosed fee just a week before. Abbey also had a cameo in the form of Josh Rowe to add much needed firepower up front.

This slightly different starting line up seemed positive to start with as Abbey were on top for the first part of the match. Abbey were rewarded on 19 minutes when a high press on the Ascot back line saw them give the ball away to George Masters who hit a sweet left foot curler into the top left hand of the goal, 1-0 Abbey, and great goal.

The rest of the first half didn't go to plan for Abbey when they were forced to make two substitutions at the back with Charlie Izzard and James Lawson coming off injured. The reshuffle did unsettle the Colts and it was just on the strike of half time when Ascot equalised making it 1-1.

During half time Abbey were able to regroup and went out in the second half looking to push for a second goal. However it wasn't going to plan and Ascot really piled on the pressure well which was rewarded by a goal on 52 minutes, 1-2.

Abbey managed to get back into the game slightly after that when Josh received the ball in the box and tried to set himself up to shoot but was fouled and penalty given. Josh stood up to take the spot kick and converted it confidently, 2-2.

The rest of the game then became frantic. For a good 10 minutes or so Ascot again piled on the pressure and Samuel in goal made one fantastic save after another keeping out every effort the opposition had on goal. Ascot we even awarded a penalty which was also saved by Samuel and kept Abbey on the game. Ascot soon afterwards went down to 10 men as one of their players saw red. This didn't stop Ascot from dominating but they soon lost control of the game with 5 minutes to go when Abbey Rangers hit the post twice and had a goal disallowed. But unbelievably the game finished all square.

MOM- Samuel Allen, an outstanding performance today and kept Abbey in it at 2-2. Not only did he make 5-6 crucial saves in the second half he also saved a penalty to keep the scoreline a draw.
