After a few weeks of disappointment, where the performance has been there but the luck has not, Abbey Rangers Colts get a well deserved point against a very well organised Ascot United team.

Missing key players today like George Masters and Billy Nutton Abbey had to pull together as a squad and dig deep if they were to get anything from the game today. Ascot are a quality team recently religated from the Premier Elite division so it was going to be a test for the Colts.

Abbey did not start fast and within 2 minutes Ascot won a corner and the resulting cross found their player in the box to freely header home, and for Abbey to concede cheaply, 1-0.

Abbey then grew into the game and had most of the possession in the first half. Player of the moment Jack Joslin, who was endlessly fouled throughout the match won a penalty on 22 minutes and Carson Curtis was able to convert to make it 1-1.

The second half was a mirror of the first and again within 2 minutes Abbey conceded another weak goal from a corner. However, this did not damage the spirits of the Abbey players and although the chances were limited Jack Joslin again won a free kick just outside the box. There was only one player who was taking this, up against players he knows well, Archie Mendoza.

Archie stood over the ball, picked his spot and managed to wip the ball up and over the Ascot wall to equalise, 2-2, with 7 minutes to go.

At this stage, and with creating limited opportunities throughout the game Abbey shut up shop and made the necessary changes. Ascot did pile on a little pressure but it was not enough and the game finished a draw, and potentially a fair result in the end.

This point was vital for moral and momentum as Abbey go into next week

MOM- Archie Mendoza, long overdue man of the match, battled like his reputation at school depended on it, and score a very valuable goal. Well deserved. Also shout out to Jack Lynch and Jack Joslin for a solid performance.
