Abbey are on fire!!!

Talk a bout a bounce back, the Abbey boys dominated the entire game. Probably the best team performance ever, definitely of the season!

A cold, damp and very early start saw Abbey travelling away to Yateley United. A new team for Abbey having never met before. The game started and it took the team a minute or two to settle down but once the boys found their feet, it was one way traffic.

Sterling performances from every single player meant the the game was never far out of reach.

Salvi opened the scoring for Abbey in the first half with some fantastic skill and determination showing his strength on the ball. A second was quickly added before Yateley came back and kept Abbey at bay for the remainder of the first half. Great work from Callum and Charlie at the back kept their key striker quiet and Yateley struggled to attack with fantastic wing play from Michael, Ross, Liam and Louis, all having their best games of the season.

Brett and Bryce struck up a fantastic partnership in the middle of the park with Jojo having his best game of the season so far as well in the middle.

Once again, Joseph and Salvi had fantastic interplay where Salvi ended on his third Hatrick of the season and Joseph adding another goal to his tally.

Aidan kept things respectable playing a fantastic role in keeping the area clear. The only Yateley goal came from a clearance from Aidan which unfortunately hit the back of one of their players and rebounded into the goal.

Abbey had many more opportunities to score and Liam made the crossbar ring with a cracking shot from just outside of the area, and credit to the Yateley Goal keeper who had an absolutely fantastic game pulling off 2 of the best saves I have seen at U12 football.

The highlight of the match came in the 50th minute where, after an attack from Yateley, Callum won the ball from the striker, laid it off to Charlie, Charlie played the ball inside to Bryce, Bryce played it out wide to Louis who played a fantastic ball through to Joseph who slotted the ball into the top corner of the goal with a superb strike. In addition, Salvi showed his flair and quick feet with a well controlled nad well taken goal for the third as well.

Overall, a fantastic team performance that sees the team moving up the table. What a comeback after a disappointing result the previous week.

Abbeys next league fixture against Byfleet Village will be an interesting game where Byfleet will be looking to add another win to their recent victory....
