U14 Colts celebrate an positive first season all thanks the Abbey Rangers family for making it so memorable

On Friday evening the under 14 Colts celebrated an on/off season due to Covid that was successful, positive, rewarding and enjoyable.

Despite the league not finishing we did manage to finish 2nd up to that point with half our games played. We also won our Surrey Youth mini league which was set up after lockdown. So all in all the players should be very proud of their achievements.

It was our first season with the club and first and foremost we wanted to thank the kind people at Abbey Rangers for making our integration into the club so seamless. Their efforts are commendable and we have felt most welcome straight from the off.

We also thanked our sponsor Mike Chopra from Mayfair We Care for the endless support over the years. It has enabled the boys to look the part with new kit when going out to compete, which I know they are hugely impressed with and we are very lucky!

The evening then went on to the awards and first up was lino of the year. A well deserved trophy which went to Steve Lawson for his impeccable and impartial judgements, may that long continue.

The players awards were then handed out and this season we were able to collate a few more statistics than usual, so we decided to celebrate those individual achievements.

The big prize for the night went to the stopping machine in goal, Samuel Allen who won players players voted by his teammates. Managers player went to George Masters who has had a fantastic season, playing every single match, and keeping his consistency at his own outstanding, very high level. The dedicated to improve award went to Carson Curtis (pictured) for his determination and efforts to train hard, improve and show us what a great player he is.

Full list of the nights awards are:

Players Player - Samuel Allen
2nd place Players Player - George Masters
3rd place Players Player- James Lawson

Managers Player - George Masters
2nd place Mangers Player- Rocco Carbery

Dedicated to Improve - Carson Curtis

Goal of the Season - Henry Bryant (versus Balham)

Top Goal Scorer - Anwtone Brown & George Masters (both 20 goals)

Most Assists - Antwone Brown (18 assists)

Most Appearances - George Kitchen & George Masters (28 matches)

Finally before the presentation was drawn to a close we also wanted to welcome our new signings Sam Riley, Anthony McGovern and Joe Sandell who were all signed for an undisclosed fee on very long contracts. All 3 will add their own unique qualities to the squad which will help us compete at a high level. We look forward to them playing in the black and white stripes next season.

There was a big thank you as well to Sammy and Dawid Stetner who have both been training with us from the first team. They have also both played matches for the Colts and have been very successful when called upon. Their desire and passion for the game is second to none and their work ethic has been a template for our boys to emulate if they want to be successful. We'll done lads.

Thanks to all the players for the dedication they have put into this difficult season. Simon, Silv and I are very proud of the players you have become and the team camaraderie you have built. Roll on 2021/22
